The power of positive Self Talk

How’s your self-talk these days? One study showed that on average, up to 80% of a person’s thoughts are negative/destructive any given day.

If you ask me, that’s absolutely shocking. What an awful use of mental energy. Even if you were an absolutely terrible person (which of course, you’re not), you still don’t deserve that kind of torment.

There are a lot of ways to improve your self-talk, and I don’t believe that you just suddenly think happy thoughts and everything gets better. That kind of messaging drives me crazy.

But I don’t want to throw the baby out with the bathwater, because in reality, intentionally carving out the words you speak over yourself DOES matter.

I’m BIG on affirmations. I think they can be life-changing if you do them the right way. If you do them the wrong way, they’ll last about a month tops.

I teach all my guys that a good affirmation is close to home (personal, identity-related), compelling and authentic. If you’re struggling with self worth, there’s a difference between saying “I am worthy” (a statement that your heart will not be able to believe in that moment) and “I’m beginning to see how worthy I am.”

Still close to home. Absolutely compelling. But honest as well.

If you are an affirmation person, what are some of your favs? Would love to hear them!

And if you are a male professional struggling with pornography and you’re tired of being caught in frustrating cycles, check out to book a complimentary strategy session. I’d love to speak with you.
